A Place to Belong. A Message of Hope
Rockwood Baptist Church - Pastor Gavin Napier
Welcome Message
Welcome to the Rockwood Family
The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?
Featured Sermon
In this final installment of the "Experiencing God" series, Gavin shares a deeply personal testimony of God's care before diving into the core of the Gospel: that a relationship with the Almighty begins with Him seeking us. Using the powerful imagery of a parent proactively caring for a helpless child, Gavin illustrates how God initiates love-based relationships by being the first to move. While the Old Testament depicts God searching for a righteous man to "stand in the gap"—a search that found no one—it ultimately points toward Christ, the perfect sacrifice who stands in that gap for us. This message is a call to recognize that no matter your past, you are a priority to God, who continues to seek and save those who were lost.
“True wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord; seeking Him brings understanding.”
Your Questions, Answered
What are your gatherings like?
First, we must understand church is not a building, a Sunday school class, or a service time. According to scripture, a church gathering is a group of people coming together in Christ and the people are the church. Jesus shows us in Matthew 18 that a gathering can be as little as two people together.
What happens when I visit?
The service usually involves the singing of hymns, fellowship, and teaching from the Word of God. You’ll be welcomed with a warm smile and made to feel right at home. Whether you’re new to church or a lifelong believer, there’s a place for you here.
What should I bring?
You don’t need to bring anything special—just come as you are, with an open heart and a willingness to connect. Some people like to bring a Bible and a notebook to take notes during the message, but it’s completely optional.
How should I dress?
At Rockwood Baptist, you’ll find a mix of styles—from folks in jeans and polos to others in their Sunday best. We encourage modest, respectful attire, but more than anything, we care that you’re here. Come in what makes you feel comfortable and ready to worship.
Can I invite people to come with?
Absolutely! Church is a great place to share with friends and family—especially during special times like Christmas or Easter. Whether they already follow Jesus or are just curious to learn more, inviting someone to come with you can be a meaningful way to show you care. Just be kind and respectful, and let the invitation speak for itself.
Still have questions?
We’d love to hear from you! If there’s something we didn’t cover here, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to talk, pray with you, or point you in the right direction. You’re always welcome to connect with us anytime.
